What Our New Journey has given me…
At a time when my life was a mess and I felt broken I found the rules and procedures to be reassuring. I was reluctant to enter the rooms of AA. On day 1 I had several women take me by the hand and bring me to my first meeting. They were all to happy to show me the way.
Its good to know we are all safe. We are held accountable for our actions. We truly function as a family, working together for the good of us all. The support from the ladies is hard to explain. It’s a wonderful thing to be with women who are like minded and have been through some of the same things as I have.

Before going into a sober house its important to ask questions so you know you are choosing a safe environment. Knowing what the consequences are for getting high. Asking about the house rules, rent, chores, meeting requirements, curfew, staff and how long you can stay for. I’ve never been to a sober house before, so I had no idea what to expect.
There’s pro and cons to every situation in life. Being in a sober house is extremely beneficial for someone like myself who is a chronic relapser. There is always someone around to talk to and get advice without judgement. There’s accountability and 24/7 sober support. Walking into Our New Journey I was instantly met with support.
The house manager is amazing. Every week we have family dinner and house meeting. I go to outpatient every day and they drive me there and back. I go to meetings everyday and have a sober support in and out of the house. This is the best decision I made for myself. This gives me the time to fix and work on myself without outside stress.

Before I came here I was really anxious about the overall environment of a sober house but I was completely wrong. Everyone here is positive, and encouraging women. The house manager is amazing and super supportive. We all became a family. We have a locker to lock up all of our stuff, any valuables we have we can lock up.
This is a great place to start getting your life together. I’m now in a safe, loving place, and I’m excited to see what my future here holds. Don’t hesitate to come here, you will not regret it !

That they are friendly, clean, have structure, and there is accountability. The best thing I ever did was move into this sober house. I feel safe, secure, believing in myself. House problems solved in a reasonable time. I feel I can be sober here.

When I got there I was happy to look up and see a well taken care of house. It was very clean inside which was a relief. Its very well staffed. The owner sat with me and explained how their care plan works. They do things that include everyone but you can still have time to yourself.
We get our medication for the week and don’t have to fear that I will over take my medication. It’s not overcrowded and people are friendly. And people help each other get to AA/NA meetings.

I would like to know that I’m coming into emotionally safe environment where I can trust management with my life in regards to my recovery. I would like to also know that the sober home I move into is safe, clean and is a structured program. I moved into “Heaven” AKA Our New Journey on October 17th, 2024.
I felt the immediate difference in the energy of this home compared to the last sober house I had lived in for almost a year where I experienced a lot of abuse and injustices. My current house manager is a wonderful woman and very caring as is the property manager and the owner Leo. I had met Leo in early recovery. The only regret I have is not having come here sooner. If you are seeking true recovery, support, and guidance, this is the place to come to.

The house is clean and quiet with a lot of good sobriety. The rules are logical and conducive to getting and staying clean.

I decided to come to this sober house. I really want to get my life back on track. Independent and just follow the road to recovery. Sobriety really matters. The people here do care about your well being and they don’t give up on you.
A lot of people can relate sometimes of what you go through in this thing called life. You don’t have to go through anything alone. There’s structure and rules to follow but its simple and its really for your own good and other places might not care as much about your recovery.
If you are serious and want a life of sobriety it starts with you and here. I’m grateful today, “One Day at a Time”
