Our New Journey Sober Living Homes
Building a Positive and Supportive Community
Our New Journey Recovery Homes are safe, structured, and well managed. A well-managed recovery home can make the difference between staying clean and sober or relapsing. Our sober living homes are also committed to providing and maintaining a clean, safe, positive living environment where new healthy habits can be formed. On our grounds, we do not allow or accept negative behavior and encourage positive action through using the tools of a 12-step program and a support group.
When you come to our sober living home, all residents agree to attend in person, 12 step meetings, have a sponsor and develop new healthier habits. Residents will attend an outpatient program and participate in daily assigned household chores. Additionally, all residents participate in a weekly step study workshop and mandatory weekly house meetings.
We have 5 locations in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York to help those in the area find a place for recovery. For more information about our sober living homes, please reach out to us today. We are proud to be helping men and women in the community and doing all we can to provide a safe, healthy living space for those willing to change and truly seeking recovery.
What Are Sober Living Homes?
A sober living home is a place that offers a safe and structured living environment for people working on abstaining from alcohol and other drugs. These homes do not provide formal treatment services. Instead, they encourage or mandate residents to participate in continuing treatment resources and mutual aid groups, like a 12 step program. In order to remain a resident, one must comply with the house rules.

Environmental Risk Factors for Adults
The Importance of a Supportive Living Environment
Once someone completes a treatment program, they will have to face the reality of whether or not their living environment will be healthy to return to or not. There are some environmental risk factors that can increase an individual’s risk of relapse after treatment. Some of those risk factors include:
- Isolation and loneliness.
- The presence of alcohol and other drugs within the home environment.
- Having a roommate or significant other that continues to engage in substance use.
- Lack of social support.
- Unmanaged stress and a lack of knowledge regarding coping mechanisms.
- Little to no engagement in continuing treatment.
A sober living home provides a supportive place for residents to heal away from the pressures of everyday reality. And there are many great benefits of turning to a sober home when in recovery.
One of the most important benefits of these homes is that they help mitigate someone’s risk of relapse by eliminating the presence of any alcohol and other drugs.

Difficulties Returning to Everyday Life
When re-entering society during recovery, one will often see how society normalizes substance use, which makes it more difficult to move on. Alcohol is a product that is recognized as a social substance and can be purchased at nearly any restaurant and store. Drinking in public at bars and restaurants is also an acceptable social norm. But if you are in recovery, these can be enticing missteps by attempting to fit in.
Some other drugs are recognized as a standard way to celebrate life. When you live in a sober living home, whether it is for the short-term or long-term, it can provide the chance for someone to navigate these triggers in daily life with ease. The separation provided by sober living homes helps individuals focus on themselves and their recovery without temptations or environmental stimuli. Our goal as a sober living home is to provide you with the tools to live a fulfilling life and keep you on the road to recovery.
